We often tend to go to the grocery store and buy all our fruits and vegetables than go home to cook them in some way. Whether it's frying, boiling, grilling, or cooking, many of the nutrients that were once in that fruit or vegetable will be lost throughout the process. What many people don't know is that buying frozen veggies or fruits and then letting them defrost is what keeps in most of the nutrients. When these foods are frozen then are picked at the time they are most rip which enables them to contain a lot of vitamins and minerals. Frozen foods also tend to last longer in general.

I actually did not know this at all and thought the complete oppisite. This is so interesting. I honestly thought frozen foods were always really gross. I guess I will have to be using the frozen veggies that are in my fridge!
ReplyDeleteI also thought the opposite, assuming fresh vegetables would be healthier. My family always eats frozen vegetables because they are quick and easy to prepare. We were always conscious of the fact that we were taking the easy way out, risking the loss of nutritional benefits but it looks as if the Dell’Olio household has been fine all along. Praise Denise and her endless supply of frozen fruits and veggies!
